Other Than That, How Was The Game Mrs. Lincoln?

Kansas City Outlaws News Release
The one thing Outlaws fans feared coming into today's game with the visiting Missouri River Otters was the presence of former NHL stars Ryan Johnson and Barret Jackman. Johnson and Jackman- both on leave from the locked out St. Louis Blues- were making their first Kemper appearance in Otter green. A former NHLer victimized the Outlaws, but it wasn't Jackman or Johnson.
Otter left wing Barrie Moore- who played 39 games in the big league with the Buffalo Sabres, Washington Capitals, and Edmonton Oilers- staked Missouri to an early 2-0 lead with first period goals at 8:59 and 11:54. Jackman and George Cantrall assisted on the first, and Frank Littlejohn and Lars Petterson did the honors on the second. Petterson added a tally of his own with just 4 seconds remaining in the first frame (Moore, Littlejohn), and the Otters carried a 3-0 advantage into the intermission.
Super sub Tim Knudsen made his second start in a row between the pipes, but departed after the 3 goal period in favor of Maxime Gingras.
Former Outlaw Mike Dombkiewicz victimized his old mates at the 4:03 mark in the second period, as he picked up his second goal as an Otter. Dombkiewicz was part of the 8 player deal that brought Dan Rohanna, Matt Suderman, Jami Yoder and Jay Murphy from Richmond over Christmas. Dombkiewicz was dealt Richmond to Missouri on February 1st. His goal was assisted by Petterson and Moore, giving Petterson 3 points on the afternoon and Moore 4 points, and increased the Otter lead to 4-0.
Kansas City captain Jason Ruff finally put the Outlaws on the board a minute later, beating Missouri goaltender Kevin Reiter for a power play goal- his 17th goal of the year (Mark Lee, Joe Seroski).
Ruffer also assisted- along with Derek Kern- on a goal by Big George Davis at the 10:43 mark, cutting the Missouri lead to 4-2. Momentum had clearly shifted the Outlaws' way. Ruff capped off his 3 point day with another goal, just 24 seconds later. His tally at 11:07 was assisted by Jay Murphy and Mike Murray.
That, as the song goes, was all she wrote. The River Otters are generally considered one of the best defensive teams in the UHL. Their 10 shutouts are a single season league record, and they pulled out all the stops in the final frame. Kansas City was unable to score again, and took a tough 4-3 loss to the cross state rivals.
The Outlaws being a 4 game road trip Wednesday night with a rematch at Missouri. You can catch that game at 7:05 on 1340 KCKN or live on the web.
The first 2,500 fans attending today's game received Abraham Lincoln bobbleheads in honor of Presidents' Day. The next Outlaws bobblehead promotion is a doozy, featuring a Jesse James Outlaw bobblehead, game ticket, hot dog, small soda, and peanuts for just $15. click here for more information
