
Maikel Jova will miss rest of season

Manchester, NH- OF Maikel Jova was transferred from the 7-day disabled list to the 15-day restricted list today. Jova had been on the disabled since August 4 with an ankle injury.
The 24-year-old Cuba native hit .258 with 3 HR and 32 RBI in 97 games with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, this season. He also spent all of last year with New Hampshire's Eastern League Championship team, hitting .277 with 10 HR and 63 RBI. There are 10 games remaining in the 2005 regular season, meaning Jova will miss the remainder of the season.
The Fisher Cats are in Portland to take on the Sea Dogs, Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, for 3 games over the weekend, beginning tonight at 7:00pm. The team returns home on Tuesday, August 30, to take on the Binghamton Mets, Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets, at 6:35pm. The Fisher Cats currently sit in 3rd place in the Eastern League's Northern Division, behind Portland and Trenton. The top 2 teams from each division make the playoffs.
