
Magic Defeat 87ers in Playoff Push

The Lakeland Magic (27-22), NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, defeated the Delaware 87ers (16-32), 123-109 and keep playoff hopes alive going into their final regular season game at the RP Funding Center.
Delaware came out strong outscoring the Magic 34-28 in the first and 35-33 in the second taking the 87ers into the locker room with a 69-61 lead. The Magic got a boost in the second half and came out with a monstrous third quarter outscoring the 87ers 31-15 and giving them a 92-84 lead going into the forth. The Magic continued to build upon the momentum with a 31-25 fourth quarter locking in the 123-109 final score.
All starters scored in double digits for the Magic with Troy Caupain leading the way. Caupain posted a double-double with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Byron Mullens also had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Jamel Artis had 19 points and 4 rebounds. Assignment Players, Rodney Purvis and Khem Birch contributed 18 points and 17 points respectively. T.J. Price had 16 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists on the night.
For the 87ers, Christian Wood was a strong force posting a double-double with 30 points and 17 rebounds. Shawn Long also had a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds including 10 on the offensive end. Demetrius Jackson had 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. James Young had a similar night with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
The Magic and 87ers are on a back to back playing their final game of the season Saturday, March 24, at 7:00 p.m. in what will determine the Magic's fate. The game can be seen on Facebook Live.
