Cedar Rapids Kernels News Release

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Kernels announced Monday that outfielder Warner Madrigal has been placed on the disabled list with an injured wrist and outfielder Nick Kimpton has been assigned to the Kernels from Rancho Cucamonga of the California League.

Madrigal has a stress fracture of the hamate bone in his left wrist. He was examined last Friday by Angels team doctors and his wrist was placed in a cast. He is expected to wear the cast for four weeks. Madrigal injured his wrist swinging a bat in the Kernels' opener on April 8 against Peoria. He was 0-for-2 with an RBI.

Kimpton rejoins the Kernels after a little more than a season at Rancho Cucamonga. He played for the Kernels in 2002 and batted .262 in 93 games. He fell off to .228 in 109 games last season at Rancho and was hitless in eight at-bats this season.

Kimpton will join the Kernels on Tuesday when they travel to Clinton to open a four-game series against the LumberKings.

Former Kernels outfielder Jason Sugden, who was in extended spring training, replaced Kimpton at Rancho Cucamonga.
