MacLane Earns Win with Strong Outing

MEMPHIS, TN - Memphis edged Omaha 2-1 Friday night at AutoZone Park in front of 10,098 fans.

Redbirds starter Evan MacLane turned in 7.2 strong innings to notch the victory. The lefty allowed one run on four hits before leaving with a runner on in the eighth. Reliever Pete Parise stranded that runner fanning Irving Falu to end the threat. Jess Todd nailed down his 15th save of the year working a 1-2-3 ninth. Omaha starter and former Cardinals pitcher Sidney Ponson took the loss allowing two runs on seven hits over five innings.

The ‘Birds tied the game in the bottom of the second with a pair of doubles from Brett Wallace and Mark Shorey with Shorey's scoring Wallace. Mark Shorey drove in the go-ahead run in the fourth inning with a single. Omaha's lone run came in the second inning on Cory Aldridge's 10th home run of the season.

Memphis hits the road tomorrow night at New Orleans with Adam Ottavino on the hill against Zephyrs lefty Willie Collazo. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Zephyr Field.
