Mississippi Braves News Release
PEARL, MS- With the bases loaded in the top of the seventh, A.J. Pollock delivered a three-run double to right field to put the BayBears on top 5-3, thus securing the victory and claiming Mobile's eighth-consecutive win over the M-Braves.
Pollock and Taylor Harbin combined to drive in all five BayBears' runs. Jake Elmore, Ollie Linton, and Pollock each had two-hit nights at the plate.
In the game, Mississippi (15-18, 40-63) had three runs on eight hits while the BayBears (25-8, 63-40) plated five runs on 10 hits and one error.
Elmore and Ryan Wheeler got things started early for the BayBears with singles to left and right field, respectively. Harbin then drove in Elmore with a single to center field, giving Mobile a 1-0 lead in the first.
Antoan Richardson led off the Braves half of the first with a single to right field. He then took second on a Mycal Jones sac bunt and scored on a Donell Linares single to center field, tying the game at 1-1.
Ed Lucas doubled and scored when Cory Harrilchak reached on an error by the first baseman, giving the M-Braves a 2-1 advantage in the second.
In the third, Ernesto Mejia doubled to right-center field, plating Linares from first and giving the Braves' a 3-1 lead.
The BayBears made it a one-run game in the top of the sixth. Elmore and Paul Goldschmidt both singled. Elmore then tagged and moved over to third on Wheeler's fly out before scoring a Harbin ground out.
Mobile then loaded the bases with no out for the big blow and change of tides in the seventh inning.
Wes Roemer (7-6) went six frames to secure the victory. He gave up three runs, two earned, on seven hits and three strikeouts. Mike DeMark came in to work a scoreless ninth and record his sixth save of the season.
M-Braves' starter Luis Avilan (2-6) went six innings, giving up four earned runs on eight hits while fanning three on the night.
Having won his past four-consecutive starts, left-hander Brett Oberholtzer (8-9, 3.70) takes the hill in game four of this five-game series at Trustmark Park. He'll counter fellow lefty Patrick Corbin (8-5, 3.84) with first pitch set for 7:05 PM. Gates open at 6:00 PM.
