Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY, AL - Shane Dyer and Frank De Los Santos combined to hold the league's top offense to one run and the Biscuits (18-15) took a series advantage, beating the Tennessee Smokies (15-18) 5-1 Thursday at Riverwalk.

The Smokies outhit the Biscuits, but went 1-8 with runners in scoring position and hit into four double plays on the night. The Biscuits have now held the Smokies to one run over the last two games, in large part because Tennessee has stranded 20 with a 1-16 effort with men in scoring position.

Dyer (5-6) snapped a five game losing streak by holding the Smokies to one second inning run over his six frames pitched. De Los Santos (3) faced the minimum over three scoreless innings to finish the night and grab the save.

Greg Sexton started the scoring with a two-out, two-run single in the first inning. The teams would trade runs in the second before Shawn O'Malley and Cole Figueroa dealt RBI-doubles in the fourth to finish the scoring.

Trey McNutt (1-4) took the loss, allowing all five runs on seven hits over four innings.

The Biscuits will look to clinch a series win Friday at 7:05 with Alex Colome facing Austin Bibens-Dirkx.
