Ottawa Lynx News Release

Eddy Garabito led the Lynx 16-hit attack by going 4-for-5, leading Ottawa to a 7-4 win over Durham on Saturday afternoon. RHP Tim Kester gave up one run on five hits in 7.0 innings to pick up his third win of the year for the Lynx. Keith Reed and Fernando Tatis each had three hits for the Lynx in a winning cause. The 16 hits and six doubles by the Lynx tied season highs.

The win is the Lynx third straight and improves Ottawa's record to 38-38 on the season.

Player Of The Game: Lynx 2B Eddy Garabito went 4-for-5 with a double, a run scored and an RBI for Ottawa.

Game Recap: The Lynx got on the board first in the bottom of the 1st inning. Eddy Garabito doubled to open the game, moved to second on a Todd Donovan fly ball and scored on Fernando Tatis' ground ball single to left. Ottawa increased their lead in the 2nd, as Keith Reed doubled and scored one out later when Val Majewski doubled down the right field line to put the Lynx up 2-0. The Lynx broke the game open in the 3rd, scoring three times. After an Andy Tracy leadoff single and a Luis Terrero double, Brandon Marsters lined a single to left-center, scoring both runners to increase the lead to 4-0. After a Jason Bowers walk moved Marsters to second, Eddy Garabito smashed a single up the middle to bring him home and put Ottawa up by five. After a Kevin Witt homer off of Tim Kester in the top of the 4th cut the lead to four, Ottawa responded in the bottom half when Terrero hit his second double of the day and came to score on Keith Reed's single. Reed would come through again in the 6th, this time driving home Fernando Tatis with his second RBI single to give the Lynx a 7-1 lead. Durham would mount a rally in the top of the 9th, scoring three runs and bringing the tying run to the plate. RHP Eddy Rodriguez would stop the bleeding, coming in to retire the last two batters, collecting his 9th save in a 7-4 win.
