Augusta Lynx News Release

The Augusta Lynx and Trenton Titans traded a pair of power play goals in regulation, forcing a 3-2 shootout decision in favor of the visiting Titans before 2,925 fans at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center on Saturday night.

Mark Lee opened the scoring with just 10 seconds remaining in the opening frame with a power play goal from Scott Bertoli and Chris Pitman.

Augusta (19-24-4) responded with a pair of second period power play goals by Joel Stepp and Nicolas Corbeil to grab a 2-1 advantage after 40 minutes of play. Jason Wolfe (38 saves) stopped 14 shots in the period to allow the Lynx to grab the lead, but the Titans would fire one last salvo in the third period to tie the game.

Mike Jarmuth's five-on-three power play goal barely slipped through the pads of Wolfe to tie the game with 9:44 remaining in the third period, sending the contest through overtime and to a shootout.

In the extra session the Titans (23-19-2) improved to 5-1 this season by scoring on three of five attempts while the Lynx could only mark twice to record the single point.

The Lynx round out a three-game weekend series by taking on the Checkers in Charlotte tomorrow at 4 pm, with the Classic Stucco and Stone Pre-Game Show kicking off one half-hour before game time on your Home for Lynx Hockey, NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630.
