Lynx Drop Third Straight to Norfolk
July 15, 2007 - International League (IL1)
Ottawa Lynx News Release
For the third straight day, a former Lynx pitcher held the Ottawa bats at bay and, for the second straight day, the Lynx offence could only muster a bases-loaded walk.
Kurt Birkins held the Lynx off the board through his five innings of work after his teammates staked him to an early 3-0 lead. Norfolk scored once in the top of the first inning and twice more in the top of the second. The Lynx broke the goose egg when Randy Ruiz brought home Gary Burnham on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the sixth.
The Tides replied with three more runs in the top of the seventh to close the door on the Lynx and take the series 3-1. Dusty Wathan and Brennan King each had two hits for the Lynx, while Jason Jaramillo had the Lynx only extra-base hit of the day, a double in the first inning.
