Buffalo Bisons News Release
TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Durham Bulls in the final game of a four-game series from Durham Bulls Athletic Park (5:00 p.m.). The Herd is looking for the series win after defeating the Bulls on Thursday and Friday night. On the mound tonight will be LHP Jeremy Sowers. The southpaw fell in defeat to Durham last Saturday despite seven innings and a season-high six strikeouts. The Bulls will counter with RHP Jay Seo.
NORTHERN LEADERS: The Bisons have been in first place in the IL North division since May 5 (72 consecutive days). Their current lead is 1.5 games over second-place Scranton/WB. The Herd's lead peaked at 4.0 games on July 6.
ROAD WARRIORS: With 28 wins in 46 games, the Buffalo Bisons have the second best road record in the International League (.609 winning percentage). The Herd trails only Richmond, who is 31-19 away from The Diamond this year.
SWEET AND SOWERS: LHP Jeremy Sowers is still in search of his first Bisons win this year. The southpaw was 9-1 with a 1.39ERA with the Herd in 2006. In his only other career trip to Durham Bulls Athletic Park (June 15, 2006), Sowers threw a complete-game, two-hit shutout in the first game of a doubleheader against the Bulls (7.0 3BB, 2K).
HOT BAT: Outfielder Brad Snyder continues to swing a hot bat for the Bisons. The slugger walked, stole a base and collected his 10th home run of the season. He is now tied with Keith Ginter for second on the team in long balls (Ryan Mulhern, 12). In his last 10 games, Snyder is hitting .360 with 2HR and 6RBI.
SMOOTH CRIMINALS: The Bisons stole three bases last night. Brad Snyder kept his perfect record in tack with his 12th steal of the season. He has yet to be caught this year. Luis Rivas added his 11th steal while Joe Inlgett picked up his fifth. The team is now 4th in the IL with 82 steals on the season.
CHART UPDATE: Infielder Ryan Mulhern is currently 7th in the International League with a .313 batting average. With his 25th double of the season last night, Mulhern is now T4th in the IL. Two more RBI gives the slugger 53 on the season, which are T8th in the league.
