Columbus, OH - The Columbus Clippers beat the Richmond Braves 6-1 Sunday at Cooper Stadium. The Clippers banged out 12 hits to even the series at a game each.
Columbus moved in front with a run in the third on an RBI force out by Bernie Castro. The Clippers upped their lead to 3-0 in the fourth on a two run double by Juan Brito. Richmond scored their lone run in the seventh on a pinch hit RBI single by Graham Koonce. The Clippers stretched their lead to 5-1 in the seventh on an RBI single by Lance Broadway and an RBI double by Brito. Columbus tacked on another run in the eighth on an RBI ground out by Castro.
John Lannan earned the win. Blaine Boyer took the loss. Doug Clark had three hits for the Braves. Broadway had four hits and Brito added three RBI for Columbus.
The Braves and Clippers meet again Monday in Columbus at 7:05. Ryan Baerlocher will pitch for Richmond. The Braves return home Wednesday vs. the Clippers at 7 PM.
