AUGUSTA - The Augusta Lynx lost their Home Opener on Friday night by a score of 5-2 to the Florida Everblades.
The Lynx scored first when Ryan Lauzon tucked in a goalmouth pass from Sergei Kuznetsov at the 9:09 mark of the first period giving Augusta the 1-0 lead. Florida would storm back cashing in on four straight goals from four different players in a span of 7:42 for 4-1 lead after the first. After the Everblades scored early in the second to make it 5-1, the Lynx lifted starting goaltender Josh Blackburn in favor of emergency backup Geoffrey Faulkner. Faulkner would finish the game going a perfect 13 for 13 and Jim Shepherd would chip in a tally for Augusta late in teh second closing the book on 5-2 defeat.
The Lynx outshoot the Everblades 40-32, including 23-11 in the second period.
