Titans Win Fourth Straight Home Opener

October 11, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL)
Trenton Devils News Release

Trenton, NJ - Scott Bertoli scored a pair of goals and Kent Davyduke and Kevin Bergin added single tallies as the Trenton Titans (1-0) defeated the Richmond Renegades (0-1) by the score of 4-3 in front of a sold-out crowd of 7,611 last night at the Sovereign Bank Arena.

Bertoli netted his two goals in the first period each time on nifty passes from center Adam Edinger. Kent Davyduke made it 3-0 just 2:36 into the second period with his first professional, regular season goal. Davyduke and line mates John Nail and Matt Zultek all crashed the net on the play as the puck slipped between the legs of Renegades' goaltender Marc Magliarditi.

Bergin's goal came almost halfway through the third period with the Titans clinging to a 3-2 lead. He gathered in the puck at the right point, skated towards the high slot and ripped a shot high to the blocker side for a 4-2 lead. Richmond's Brad Church would score to cut the lead to 4-3, but the Titans hung on for their fourth straight, home opening win. Cody Rudkowsky stopped 18 shots for the win.

The Titans host the Roanoke Express on Saturday night (October 12) at 7 pm. Plenty of great seats are availble by calling (609) 520-8383.
