Augusta Lynx News Release

After an intense, playoff-style contest last night at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center, the Augusta Lynx and Florida Everblades will renew acquaintances tonight at 7:35 pm on the same ice.

The Lynx will look to avenge a 2-1 shootout point decision against the Everblades from Friday night. Augusta took the lead early on a Nicolas Corbeil power play goal just 4:03 into the game, giving the Lynx a power play goal in 10 of their last 12 games. Corbeil fired home the rebound of a Chris Leinweber shot to give Augusta a lead that would last until mid-way through the third period.

Florida finally broke through at 10:05 of the final frame when Ryan Brindley converted a pass to the low slot, beating Lynx goaltender Nathan Marsters over the right shoulder to tie the game and eventually send the contest to overtime.

In the OT the intensity continued, with a penalty shot awarded to Daniel Sisca after Corbeil knocked him down on a breakaway with a diving attempt at a poke check. Sisca was stuffed by the right pad of Marsters, and neither team would manage a goal in the four-on-four five minute extra session.

To the shout the teams went, and it took six rounds for Florida to emerge the victor on Corey Neilson's backhand deke. As Florida poured over their bench to congratulate Kevin Nastiuk on his 33 save performance and fourth consecutive win, the Lynx skated off the ice to applause from the nearly 3,000 fans on hand who had witnessed perhaps one of the best games of the season.

With Augusta close to eclipsing the 4,000 fan mark for tonight's game, the team would like to remind fans that seats are on sale now through the Lynx office at (706) 724-4ICE, all TicketMaster locations, and on line at www.TicketMaster.com. Seats are $11, $14, and $15, with discounts available for Comcast Cable subscribers, military personnel, students, and seniors. Radio coverage begins with the Classic Stucco and Stone Pre-Game Show one half-hour before game time on your Home for Lynx hockey, NEWSTALKSPORTS 1630.
