Lynchburg Hillcats News Release

Wilmington evened the three-game series at Frawley Stadium with a 9-3 win over Lynchburg on Saturday night. The rubber-match in the set takes place on Sunday afternoon in Wilmington. Tune-in for all the live action beginning at 12:40 p.m. with the Hillcats On-Deck Show on the FM 105.5 KD Country.

Lynchburg grabbed the early lead with a two-out RBI single by Matt Hague. They tacked on another run in the second on an opposite field home run by Marcus Davis to make it 2-0 Hillcats.

Unfortunately, that lead would not last long. Wilmington responded with three run in the bottom of the second to take a 3-2 lead. Ryan Eigsti knocked an RBI double in the inning, it was one of three hits on the night for the Blue Rocks catcher. An inning later, the Royals number one minor league prospect Mike Moustakas hit his first home run of the season to put the lead up to two.

In the fifth inning, Wilmington tacked on three more runs to open up their lead to five at 7-2. Moustakas smacked a two-run double in the three-run frame. That would prove to be more than enough for Wilmington, who won by a final of 9-3 to even up this three-game series at a game a piece.

The loss went to starter Paul Mildren (0-2) for Lynchburg (7-3) who had their four-game winning streak snapped. The win went to starter Everett Teaford (1-0) for Wilmington (6-4).

The final game of the set and the brief three-game road trip takes place on Sunday afternoon at 1:05 p.m. at Frawley Stadium. The Hillcats will send right-hander Matt McSwain (0-0, 4.15) to the mound opposite fellow righty Alex Caldera (0-1, 2.00) for the Blue Rocks.

Tune-in for all the live action beginning at 12:40 p.m. with the Hillcats On-Deck Show on FM 105.5 KD Country.
