On the same play, the shortstop Friis threw the ball away on the relay first and Jimmy Herron scooted around third to put the Birds ahead 3-2.

After the Hillcats put the winning run on base in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Pelicans turned to Jesus Camargo who hit Mitch Reeves with a pitch to load the bases. With the bases full, Gavin Collins was also hit by a pitch and a run scored to knot the game at 3-3 before Will Benson walked it off for the Hillcats with an RBI single to right that gave Lynchburg the 4-3 win.
