THE HILLCATS: Saturday, the âCats lost to the Wilmington Blue Rocks 7-4...Lynchburg committed four errors, two of which led to three unearned runs for the Blue Rocks in the fifth inning...The Hillcats trailed 4-2 after the fifth and came back to tie with a run in the sixth and another in the seventh...However, RHP Andrew Wilson surrendered three runs for the first time since April in the eighth and Wilmington went up 7-4...The Hillcats are currently tied for third place in the Northern Division at 16-25 with the Blue Rocks, 10.0 games back of the Frederick Keys in first place...
VS. WILMINGTON: The Hillcats are 8-7 against the Blue Rocks this season...This is the last time Wilmington will travel to Lynchburg this season...The âCats are 5-4 against the Blue Rocks at home...Last season, Lynchburg lost the season series to Wilmington 8-12...Myrtle Beach (2010 Braves Advance-A affiliate) however, won 11 of their 20 match-ups with the Blue Rocks a season ago...
BIG LEAGUE DREAMS: Atlanta Braves GM Frank Wren invited the Hillcats' players and staff to Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. Wednesday afternoon to check out the big league facilities and watch the game in order to give them a taste of exactly what they should look forward to if they can make it to the ultimate level...The âCats are 3-1 since the trip...
SIGNS OF LIFE: Lynchburg has won five of their last eight, and have won their last two series against the Salem Red Sox and Frederick Keys...It's the first time since May 23-29 that the âCats have won back-to-back series...They welcome the Blue Rocks to town this weekend as they try to win three consecutive series for the first time all year...The âCats snapped a three-game winning streak with the loss last night but still have a chance to take the series against Wilmington in the rubber match tonight...
SOME SACRIFICE MORE THAN OTHERS: With two more sacrifice flies last night, the Hillcats now have 10 over their last six games going back to last Sunday against the Salem Red Sox...On the season the team has 35 now, which is second behind Salem with 37 for most in the league...INF Phil Gosselin is responsible for nine of the flies, most in the league...

CHASING HISTORY: INF Joey Terdoslavich hit his 44th double of the season last night...The next best total in the league this year is 28...He has already broken the Hillcats single season doubles record previously set by Rey Navarette (41) back in 2002...The all-time Carolina League record is 51, set by Woody Fair with Durham in 1948...Terdoslavich is currently on pace to hit 55 this season...He ranks among the league leaders in a number of other categories this year as well, including home runs (16, 4th), hits (110, T-4th), RBI (63, 5th), runs, (58, 5th), extra-base hits (61, 1st), slugging pct. (.526, 2nd), total bases (204, 2nd)...
ALMOST THERE: OF Keenan Wiley snapped a seven-game hit-streak last night after entering as a pinch-runner and going 0-for-1...He went 12-for-25 during the streak...Now hitting .296, which would rank second in the league but he is still six plate appearances short of qualifying...
TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Tyler Sample was a third round pick by the Royals in the 2008 draft out of JK Mullen Prep in Denver, CO...2010 Midwest League mid-season all-star for Burlington...Won the Midwest League Pitcher of the week on July 19, 2010...Went 6-10 with a 4.69 ERA in 26 starts in 2010...Struck out 115 batters in 121 innings pitched...Has pitched twice against the Hillcats this season...On April 26, pitched two and one-third shutout innings, giving up two hits...Took loss on May 3, pitching five innings and giving up five runs, four earned and striking out six...Currently 6-9 with a 5.73 ERA...
