Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Miami Marlins announced a transaction that impacts their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster prior to tonight's game against the Birmingham Barons at Bragan Field at 7:05 p.m.
Right-handed starting pitcher Scott Lyman has been transferred from High-A Jupiter to Jacksonville. Lyman made 17 starts with the Hammerheads, going 4-8 with a 3.03 ERA in 98 innings on the mound. Lyman was a Florida State League Midseason All-Star, going 3-5 in the first half with a 2.88 ERA.
Lyman was most dominant in April when he was named the Miami Marlins Minor League Pitcher of the Month. In the season's first month, Lyman was 2-1 with a 0.56 ERA (2 ER in 32.0 IP) with 25 strikeouts compared to only five walks during his first five starts of the season.
Lyman will make his Southern League debut tonight, as he starts for the Suns against the Barons.
Lyman, a native of Alamo, California, was selected by the Marlins in the 10th round out of the University of California-Davis.
The Suns roster now stands at 25 active players, and a revised roster is attached.
Tonight Lyman will be opposed by Birmingham left-hander Scott Snodgress (5-7, 4.14).
Suns fans can listen to Monday's game on the Suns Baseball Network, 94.1 WSOS-FM or through www.jaxsuns.com, MiLB.com or the Suns iPhone or Android app, beginning at 6:50 p.m. ET with the Memorial Hospital Suns Pregame Show.
