Pensacola Blue Wahoos News Release

The Pensacola Blue Wahoos look to celebrate the team's 100th sellout in the near future, earning their 98th sellout on Saturday, July 12th as the Wahoos faced the Montgomery Biscuits in front of 5,038 fans. The 100th milestone will be the 29th sellout this season. To date, the team has welcomed over 855,000 fans through its gates since its inaugural campaign, hitting the 200,000 fan mark for this season on Thursday, July 10th. With 20 games left this year, 223,555 fans have already come through the gates at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium to experience the Wahoos Life.

"The Blue Wahoos have been a huge part of Downtown Pensacola's renaissance and our city's forward momentum," said Mayor Ashton Hayward. "People are enjoying our team, our park, and the best fan experience in baseball, which is bringing more people downtown and helping to create an atmosphere of excitement about Pensacola."

Survey results show fans continue to appreciate the game day experience at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium. Through the season's 10 homestands, 93% of fans rank a Blue Wahoos game as "outstanding" - the highest survey ranking possible.

"We are truly grateful to our loyal fans and our dedicated community for completely embracing our team and being such strong supporters," added Quint Studer, co-owner of the Blue Wahoos. "Our hardworking staff, who always put providing the best customer service and fan experience first, fan-friendly players and coaches and corporate and non-profit partners who serve as our brand ambassadors should all take great pride in this upcoming accomplishment. With the greatest fans, staff and partners in baseball, we continue to build momentum and are excited to see what the future holds for our team, our league and the Wahoos Life."

Alongside the accomplishments of the Wahoos, the Southern League is also having a banner year with many exciting projects on the horizon. The Birmingham Barons, who opened their state-of-the-art 8,500 seat facility in 2013, lead the league in attendance this season with over 326,000 fans. Pensacola is neck and neck in overall attendance with the Jacksonville Suns in their 11,000 seat stadium. Birmingham, Jacksonville and the Wahoos also lead the league in average per game attendance. In total, seven of the 10 teams in the Southern League have seen over 100,000 fans to date this season.

In 2015, the Southern League will also welcome a new ballpark in Biloxi, MS when the Milwaukee Brewers move their Double-A operation south. Not only will Southern League fans enjoy another state-of-the-art facility, but Wahoos fans will also experience a renewed rivalry with the Milwaukee affiliate.

The Blue Wahoos host the Mobile BayBears tonight at 6:30 p.m. as the Bay-to-Bay series resumes in Pensacola. The five-game homestand features Bark in the Park tonight, the return of Tuesday fireworks, an Inflatamaniacs performance Tuesday and Wednesday, Thirsty Thursday and a car sunshade giveaway presented by Hill-Kelly Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram on Friday. Tickets for this series and all remaining 20 home games this season are available at bluewahoos.com, at the Hill-Kelly Dodge Pick Up Window or by calling (850) 934-8444.
