Lunkers Explode for 16 Runs in Win

(Brainerd Lakes Area) - The Lunker offense came to life in a big way on Wednesday night, posting 16 runs in a 16-4 win over the Alexandria Beetles at Mills Field.

Andrew Letourneau and Wade Wass both went deep for the Lunkers in the game. Wass's home run was hit to center field, well over 400 feet.

Three Lunkers had three RBIs in the game, Letourneau, Dan Olinger and Tyler Wampler. Wampler had a bases-clearing triple in the 5th inning that made it 10-1 at the time.

Aaron Griffin was very strong for the Lunkers, going seven innings, giving up only one run and striking out nine. Griffin picked up his third win of the season.

On the other side, Alexandria starter Matt Fyffe struggled, giving up ten earned runs in the game, taking the loss.

With the win, the Lunkers improve to (6-9) with the Beetles falling to (8-5).

The Lunkers are back in action Thursday night against the Beetles. First pitch is set for 7:05.
