WILLMAR - The Willmar Stingers scored seven runs in the 4th inning and seven runs in the 5th on their way to a 15-3 win over the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers Saturday night at Bill Taunton Stadium.
Lunker pitching struggled on the evening. Starter Joe Harvey gave up eight runs in his first loss of the season.
The Stingers got home runs from Sean Dwyer and Ryan Dettman. Dettman had four RBIs on the evening.
Willmar starter Kody Gorden gave up three runs but only went four and a third innings, and did not qualify for the win. The win goes to Kurt Spomer, who pitched an inning and two-thirds of perfect relief.
Casey Roche was one of the bright spots for the Lunkers, going 2 for 4 with two RBIs.
The Lunkers wrap up the 2011 season Sunday evening at home against the St. Cloud River Bats. First pitch is set for 6:05. It is Fan Appreciation Night at the ballpark. Kye Winter gets the start for the Lunkers in the finale.
