ROCHESTER - The Rochester Honkers scored nine runs in the Bottom of the 2nd inning en route to an 11-2 win over the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers Friday night at Mayo Field.
13 batters came to the plate for the Honkers. Lunker starter John McLeod struggled, getting tagged for all nine runs in the second. McLeod falls to (2-4) with the loss.
Ryan Hambright capped it off in the third inning with a two-run home run, making it 11-0 Honkers at the time.
DJ Snelten picked up the win for Rochester. Snelten went six innings of scoreless baseball, giving up only two hits.
One of the bright spots for the Lunkers was Kyle Crocker. Crocker hit a two-run home run in the 7th to get the Lunkers on the board. Crocker was making his first start since June 13.
Dan Olinger was 2 for 4 on the night, the only Lunker with two hits.
The Lunkers fall to (15-22) with the loss, now a half game behind Rochester for sixth place in the second half.
The final road game for the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers is Saturday night at Willmar against the Stingers. First pitch is set for 7:05.
