Former Alexandria Beetle Signs Professional Contract

ALEXANDRIA, MN ‚¬" Taylor Davis, a former catcher with the Alexandria Beetles has signed a free agent contract with the Chicago Cubs. Davis, a native of Jupiter, Florida, played with the Beetles in the summer of 2010. During that summer, Davis played in 69 games hitting .300 with 4 home runs and 34 runs batted in.

Davis played his college baseball at Morehead State University in Kentucky, where he was a three year standout for the Eagles. Davis had a tremendous season at MSU this past spring earning himself First Team All-Ohio Valley Conference accolades. Davis led the conference in several offensive statistics including leading the league in batting average, hitting an impressive .414.

Davis will report to Mesa, Arizona, where he will join his new teammates on the Arizona League Cubs, a rookie league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. Davis is the newest member of a growing list of former Beetles that have moved on to play professional baseball. The most notable member of that group is Nick Hundley, who played for the Beetles in 2004, and now is a member of the San Diego Padres.
