Bangor Lumberjacks News Release

Bangor, ME- The Bangor Lumberjacks announced today that they have traded RHP Eric Moore to the Rio Grande Valley (TX) White Wings of the Central League for the club's first round pick in the 2004 tryout camp.

Moore was acquired from the San Angelo (TX) Colts of the Central League during the off-season for pitchers Shannon Royal and Quentin Jones.

A side-armed reliever, Moore went 3-3 with a paltry 2.63 ERA in 48.0 innings pitched out of the Colts' bullpen. Moore struck out 35 in 39 appearances. The 26 year-old Moore was drafted in the 36th round of the 1998 draft by the Texas Rangers out of Lambuth College in Tennessee. Eric is 11-13 with an ERA of 4.38 in 181.0 career innings pitched.

"We had an opportunity to open up an LS-4 slot to address a need in the outfield, and we got a first round pick in next year's Texas Camp, which I feel is an important component in continuing to build a winning ballclub," stated Lumberjacks Manager Kash Beauchamp.

The trade leaves the Lumberjacks with 15 pitchers still in camp.

The Lumberjacks open the 2003 campaign on the road against the Allentown (PA) Ambassadors on Thursday, May 22, but return to Bangor for the home opener on Friday, May 30 at 7 PM against the New Jersey Jackals at Mahaney Diamond. Please call 207-947-1900 for all ticket, promotional, and sponsorship information.
