Tri-City Americans News Release
KENNEWICK, WA - NHL Central Scouting released their preliminary rankings for the 2023 NHL Draft Tuesday morning, and Americans defenseman Lukas Dragicevic was listed as a B-ranked skater.
Central Scouting ranks players as either 'A', 'B' or 'C' ranked skaters, with A-ranked skaters being potential first-round selections, B-ranked skaters as potential second-or-third-round selections, and C-ranked skaters as potential fourth to sixth-round selections.
Dragicevic, from Richmond, B.C., is off to a strong start in his second full season in the WHL, racking up 11 points (2-9-11) through his first 10 games. His 11 points ties him with Vancouver's Mazden Leslie for the WHL scoring lead amongst 2005-born defensemen.
The Americans drafted the six-foot-two, right-shot defenseman fourth overall in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft after he scored 52 points (8-44-52) with the U15 Delta Hockey Academy Green program.
After appearing in six games as a 15-year-old during the 2020-21 season, Dragicevic made the full-time jump to the WHL in 2021-22 and scored 32 points (6-26-32) in 62 games. He was the highest scoring 2005-born defenseman in the WHL last season, with the next closest player having 21 points.
For his efforts, Dragicevic was named to Hockey Canada's roster for the World Under-18 Hockey Championship and was one of just four 2005-born defensemen on the roster. He scored three points (1-2-3) in four games at the event.
