Benson Named to NHL Central Scouting Preliminary Players to Watch List

Winnipeg ICE forward Zach Benson has been named by NHL Central Scouting to their Preliminary Players to Watch List for the 2023 NHL Draft.

Benson has recorded 15 points (six goals and nine assists) in 12 games this season. His six goals include one on the power play, two shorthanded and two game winners.

In 94 career WHL games, the 5'10", 159 pound forward from Chilliwack, B.C. has registered 98 points (41 goals and 57 assists).

Benson was selected by the ICE in the first round, 14th overall in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft.

Overall, 43 WHL players, including 25 forwards, 12 defensemen and six goaltenders were named today.

The 2023 NHL Draft is scheduled for June 28th and 29th in Nashville.

Next action for the ICE is Friday night in Brandon (6:30 on CFRW 1290) as the Battle of Manitoba presented by Taylor McCaffery Lawyers continues.

The ICE return home for our Home Opener against the Brandon Wheat Kings on Youth and Families Celebration Night presented by 103.1 Virgin Radio and for the first installment of the Battle of Manitoba presented by Taylor McCaffrey Lawyers on Saturday October 29th at 7PM at the ICE Cave inside Wayne Fleming Arena.
