Lugs Top Rattlers to Finish Strong Road Trip

Lansing Lugnuts News Release
APPLETON, Wisc. - Jake Anderson drilled a tie-breaking two-run triple, and the Lansing Lugnuts (13-8) finished an impressive six-game road trip with a 5-3 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (11-13) on Sunday afternoon at Neuroscience Group Field.
The Lugnuts went 5-1 against the Timber Rattlers and the Beloit Snappers, outscoring their opponents by a combined 21-6.
Down 3-2 entering the seventh inning, the Lugnuts tied the game on an RBI fielder's choice from Josh Almonte. That brought up Anderson with two runners aboard, and the DH brought in both with a laser into the right-center alley against Alex Farina (Loss, 0-1). It was his first triple of the year.
Lansing starter Francisco Rios (Win, 1-0) allowed only three sixth-inning runs in six innings of work, of which only one was earned. The 20-year-old right-hander struck out five Rattlers without walking a batter.
The Lugs' bullpen took it from there, extending its scoreless streak to 32 2/3 innings. Starlyn Suriel pitched 1 2/3 innings, allowing a double to Max McDowell in the eighth. Dusty Isaacs (Save, 3) stranded McDowell, setting down the final four Wisconsin batsmen of the game.
In the losing cause, Wisconsin starter Jon Perrin struck out eight batters while allowing two runs on three hits in six innings.
Lansing was led offensively by third baseman Carl Wise, who went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and catcher Ryan Hissey, who was 1-for-2 with two walks and two runs. Left fielder Connor Panas added a two-run single.
The Lansing Lugnuts now return to Michigan's state capital, opening a six-game homestand from Monday through Saturday. The homestand opener is at 7:05 p.m. Monday, with left-hander Angel Perdomo (2-0, 2.04) working against Cedar Rapids Kernels right-hander Randy LeBlanc (2-2, 1.50).
