Burlington Bees News Release

Lansing, MI (July 19, 2007) - Chris Emanuele had two hits, including a triple, and drove in four to lead the Lansing Lugnuts (15-11, 50-45) to a 9-2 win at Oldsmobile Park tonight, ending the Burlington Bees (15-11, 45-50) five-game winning streak. The Bees still lead this series 2-1 and the season series 4-3. The Bees are 5-2 on this road trip with just one game left to play.

Lansing built an early lead against Bees' starter Mario Santiago (1-7). In the bottom of the second, Santiago issued a one-out walk to Jonathan Jaspe and Kevin Nelson drove him in with a two-out double to get Lansing on the board. The Lugnuts opened up the lead with four runs in the third. Infield singles by Jonathan Diaz and Yuber Rodriguez and a walk to Travis Snider loaded the bases and Emanuele smacked a line drive into the right-center field gap that rolled all the way to the wall for a three-run triple. After a strikeout, Jaspe added a base hit to drive in Emanuele and the Lugnuts lead 5-0. Lansing added one more run against Santiago in the fifth inning. With one out, Sean Shoffit doubled and scored on another base hit for Jaspe.

Lansing starter Graham Godfrey (6-4) scattered six hits over six innings and got a pair of double plays to keep the Bees off the scoreboard. With two outs in the top of the seventh, Jase Turner singled and Jamar Walton doubled to knock Godfrey out of the game. Chris Reddout took over on the mound and gave up a base hit to Derrick Robinson that drove in the two runners for the Bees' only runs. Reddout would work through the eighth and Po-Hsuan Keng finished off the ninth for the Lugnuts.

Santiago gave way to Josh Cribb after 5.2 innings. Cribb got a foul out to end the sixth, but allowed three runs in the seventh. Rodriguez, Snider, and Emanuele started the inning with consecutive singles to produce one run. After a strikeout and a walk the bases were loaded for Jonathan Baksh. Baksh hit a bouncing ball to second base. The Bees got the force out at second, but Jeff Bianchi's return throw to first sailed high and went off the glove of Turner and rolled into the dugout for an error that allowed a second unearned run to score on the play. Cribb finished the inning and then Jim Wladyka worked a perfect eighth.

The Bees and Lugnuts will complete this series tomorrow night at Oldsmobile Park. The game will start at 6:05 Central Time and will be broadcast live on KBUR AM 1490 and KBKB AM 1360 with the pre-game show starting at 5:45. LH Ryan DiPietro (5-5, 4.26) will start for the Bees against RH Kyle Ginley (2-5, 5.36) for Lansing.
