Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

BELOIT, WI -- Eli Tintor hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Beloit Snappers a 4-2 victory over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Thursday night at Pohlman Field. That homer sent the Rattlers to their eleventh straight loss. Wisconsin had an early 2-0 lead, but could not close out the game.

Wisconsin (30-63 overall, 8-17 second half) got back-to-back singles by Reed Eastley and Alex Liddi to start the top of the second inning. But, they were still at first and second with two outs. Juan Beltran doubled to rightcenter and Eastley scored. However, Liddi was thrown out at the plate to end the inning.

Gavin Dickey lined a homer to rightcenter to start the Rattler third inning for a 2-0 lead. The Rattlers would collect eleven hits off Beloit starting pitcher Cole Devries, but these were the only two runs they scored off him.

Rattler starter Steve Richard retired the first twelve batters he faced in the game. But, Chris Parmelee led off the bottom of the fifth inning with his twelfth home run of the season. The Snappers (58-37, 14-11) would put runners at first and third with one out, but Richard got out of the inning. He got Garrett Olson to ground into an inning ending 5-4-3 double play.

Brian Kappel relieved Richard for the bottom of the sixth inning and retired the Snappers in order.

But the game swung around to the Snappers in the seventh. Wilson Ramos singled off Sean Kelley lead off the inning. Parmelee was next with a single. Eli Tintor dropped a sacrifice bunt to move the runners up into scoring position. Tintor reached when the throw to first was wild. Kelley got the first out when he struck out Danny Santiesteban. Then, things got interesting.

Steve Singleton sent a sharp single to right to drive in Ramos with the tying run. Parmelee tried to score the winning run, but Leury Bonilla made a strong throw to the plate and Beltran had the ball in his glove waiting for Parmelee. Parmelee crashed into Beltran, but Beltran held on to the ball for the second out.

After the play, Beltran got up and there was a brief staredown between the two players. Then, Beltran took a swing at Parmelee and the benches and bullpens cleared. When order was restored, both Beltran and Parmelee were ejected from the game. Kelley ended the inning by getting Garrett Olson to groundout.

The game stayed tied 2-2 until the bottom of the ninth inning. Kelley got the first out. Then, Mike Wagner came into the game. Matt Betsill, who replaced the ejected Parmelee, doubled down the left field line. Tintor was next and he lined the first pitch he saw from Wagner over the left field wall for the game-ending home run.

The final game of series -- and of Wisconsin's two week road trip -- is Friday night. Tony Butler (0-6, 6.62) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Beloit has Tyler Robertson (3-2 1.94) as their scheduled starter. Game time is 6:30pm.
