
Lowry Named WHL Player of the Year

Swift Current, SK - The Western Hockey League announced at the 2013 WHL Awards Ceremony Wednesday afternoon, that Swift Current Broncos captain, Adam Lowry, has been named to the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy - WHL Player of the Year Award.
The 6'5", 201-pound Calgary, AB product played a complete 72-games with the Broncos this season where he posted a career-high 45 goals, 43 assists and 88 points ranking 12th overall in the WHL in scoring and tied for second in shorthanded goals with six. He played in five playoff games with the Broncos where he led the team in scoring with five points (3 goals, 2 assists).
Lowry was also named the Husky WHL Player of the Month for December, where he collected 21 points (13 goals, 8 assists) to go along with a +7 rating and held the longest goal scoring and point streak this season at 8 games (13 goals) and 21 games (21 goals, 16 assists), respectively.
In 235 WHL games played over four seasons with the Broncos, Lowry has recorded 90 goals and 114 assists for 204 points along with 333 penalty minutes.
"Adam is the exact identity that we want a Bronco to be," says General Manager and Head Coach, Mark Lamb. "He has turned into one of the most dominant players in the Western Hockey League from his extremely hard work ethic and dedication to the sport. It's a real credit to Adam."
Lowry recently signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Winnipeg Jets after joining the Jets' AHL affiliate team the St. John's IceCaps following the completion of the Broncos season.
He is the first Bronco to win the coveted Four Broncos Memorial Trophy since 1998 when Sergei Varlamov was awarded it.
Adam will now compete against both the OHL and QMJHL's Player of the Year award winners for the highly-touted CHL Player of the Year award.
