
Lowrie & Holdzkom Promoted to Triple-A Pawtucket

Portland, Maine- Portland Sea Dogs' infielder Jed Lowrie and right-handed pitcher Lincoln Holdzkom have been promoted to Triple-A Pawtucket. Additionally infielder Zach Borowiak and right-handed pitcher Barry Hertzler rejoin the Sea Dogs from Triple-A Pawtucket. Borowiak will wear uniform # 6 while Hertzler will don # 32.
Lowrie appeared in 93 games with the Sea Dogs in 2007 hitting .297. He leads the Eastern League in doubles (31) and leads the team in hits (100), triples (7), home runs (8), RBI (49), and walks (65).
The 23 year-old was selected to the 2007 Eastern League All-Star Game. He was named the Red Sox offensive player of the month for May 2007. Lowrie also holds the longest on base streak in 2007 (third longest in franchise history) with 38 straight game from April 29th - June 9th. Lowrie was drafted by the Red Sox in the first round (45th overall) of the June 2005 draft.
Lincoln Holdzkom has appeared in 30 games with the Sea Dogs, posting a 4-1 record with 41 strike outs. The right-hander has been scoreless in 10 of 13 appearances with the Sea Dogs in 2007. Holdzkom was originally drafted by the Marlins in the 7th round of the 2001 draft and spent the 2006 season in the Cubs organization with West Tennessee (Double-A), Daytona (Single-A), and the Arizona Cubs (Rookie).
Borowiak returns to Portland after playing in eight games with the Pawsox, hitting .118. Borowiak also pitched in one game for the Pawsox tossing one shutout inning allowing one hit and collecting one strikeout. The 26 year-old has appeared in 51 games this year with the Sea Dogs, hitting .229. Borowiak was drafted in the 14th round (414th overall) in the 2003 First-Year Player Draft.
Hertzler returns from his second stint with the Pawsox this season. In ten games at the Triple-A level Hertzler is 1-1 with a 16.31 ERA. In 18 games with the Sea Dogs this season Hertzler is 2-1 with one save and a 3.21 ERA. He was selected by the Red Sox in the 11th round of the June 2003 draft.
The Sea Dogs take on the Connecticut Defenders (Giants) at Hadlock Field on Friday, July 27th at 7:00 PM. Saturday is a Day/Night Doubleheader at Hadlock Field, with the first game starting at 1:00 PM and the second game set to begin at 6:00 PM. Due to Eastern League rules both games will be seven innings and separate admission is required.
