Miscellaneous Notes
Last Game... The Senators started a four-game series in Erie on Thursday night with a 7-2 loss. Erie scored twice in the first inning on three doubles to take a 2-0 lead. Seth Bynum homered in the third to cut the lead to 2-1. Senators started Beltran Perez ran into trouble in the bottom of the third when with two outs, he walked a batter and then allowed a single bringing up Jackson Melian. Melian emptied the bases with a three-run home run to break the game open. Erie tacked on two runs in the seventh off of Carlos Martinez to round out their scoring. The Sens scored a run in the ninth on a double by Dan Dement and a single by Frank Diaz. Dement had two hits in the game, the only Senator player to do so. Carlos Martinez was sharp in his debut with the Sens going four innings, allowing just three hits and two runs while striking out three.
Tonight's Game... Tonight is game two of a four-game series with Erie. With their win last night, the SeaWolves closed to within a game of the first place Akron Aeros.
Tonight's Starting Pitcher... The Senators send RH Jim Magrane to the mound against RH Eddie Bonine for Erie. Magrane is making his 11th start this season for the Senators. He has worked out of the bullpen for the Sens, and as a starter. He also started three games and had an outing out of the bullpen for Columbus this season. He was originally signed as a nondrafted free agent in 1999 by the Devil Rays. He spent the last seven years in Tampa's organization, going 61-64 in 203G/171GS. He pitched five innings against Altoona in his last start which was on Sunday afternoon. The Sens committed two errors which led to unearned runs.
