
Louisville Bats Host First-Ever Star Wars Night July 27

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats will host their first-ever Star Wars Night at Louisville Slugger Field on Sunday, July 27. Gates for the 6:05 p.m. game open at 5 p.m. and all fans dressed in a Star Wars costume will receive a $3 discount on field reserved and premium seat tickets purchased.
Approximately 15 Star Wars characters, including Darth Vader, R2D2 and Princess Leia, will be present in the Hall of Fame Pavilion for a meet and greet from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Bats players will wear special edition Star Wars jerseys, modeled after the Rebel flight suits, which will be auctioned online following the game. The auction will run from 10 a.m. on Monday, July 28 until 10 a.m. on Monday, August 4 with all proceeds going to Kosair Children's Hospital.
Fans attending Star Wars Night may also receive a voucher for a free hot dog and small Pepsi for donating a new children's book to The UPS Store Toys for Tots Literacy Program.
Additional giveaways during the upcoming homestand include a 2014 Bats Team Photo giveaway on Friday, July 25 and a "ËGo-Green' cap giveaway on Saturday, July 26.
The Bats will return home on Monday, July 21 after a four-game road trip in Toledo, Ohio to start a nine-game homestand with the Columbus Clippers (53-47) from July 21 to July 24 and the Charlotte Knights (41-58) from July 25 to July 28. The Bats and Knights will play a doubleheader (two seven-inning games) on Saturday, July 26 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Louisville came out of the All-Star Break with a 50-47 record, two games shy of the division leading Columbus Clippers and Indianapolis Indians. The club is 16-7 in its last 23 home games and continues to be led by a duo of IL All-Stars in infielder Rubén Gotay and outfielder Félix Pérez.
The Bats have averaged 8,979 fans per game at Louisville Slugger Field since its opening in 2000 and have totaled over 8.8 million fans through 14 seasons.
