TOLEDO, OH - The Louisville Bats (50-48) suffer a loss coming out of the All-Star Break after being defeated 6-1 by the Toledo Mud Hens (48-51) Thursday night at Fifth Third Field.

The Mud Hens took the first lead of the game in the second inning when a double by Ben Guez scored James McCann. The Bats retaliated in the top of the third after a Jack Hannahan sacrifice fly to left field plated Ruben Gotay to tie the game up at one.

The fourth inning became the game's deciding factor as Toledo's bats exploded to give them a 5-1 lead. The Mud Hens scored four runs on four hits and three walks off of Louisville's starter Josh Smith. They made it a 6-1 ballgame in the sixth inning after a Hernan Perez RBI single scored Wade Gaynor. Louisville unfortunately wasn't able to threaten at the plate after scoring their lone run in the third inning.

Smith (9-3, 4.28) earned just his third loss of the season on his sixteenth start after pitching five innings and giving up five runs on seven hits, with three walks and three strikeouts.

Toledo's left-handed starter Kyle Lobstein (7-9, 3.56) received the win as he went seven innings and only gave up one run on seven hits, three walks and six strikeouts.

Hannahan, on Major League rehab, made his first start for the Bats as a designated hitter and went 0-for-3 with an RBI.

Louisville and Toledo will be back in action tomorrow at 7 p.m. for game two of the five game series. Left-hander David Holmberg (0-4, 4.93) will take the mound in search of his first triple-A win against the Mud Hens' lefty Duane Below (7-3, 4.10).
