Loudoun United Acquire Defenders Hunter Gorskie and Miguel Garduno
September 24, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Loudoun United FC News Release
Loudoun United have acquired defenders Hunter Gorskie and Miguel Garduño for the remainder of the 2019 season.
"We are excited to add Miguel and Hunter to the roster for the remainder of the season," Head Coach Ryan Martin, said. "Hunter and Miguel are both experienced veterans that have had tremendous careers so far. Their experience will make them leaders on and off the field for the group, and role models for the younger players. Both are very good defenders and will help anchor our backline for the rest of the season."
Gorskie is from New York City and played collegiate soccer at Stanford University, where he was a key piece to a 2011 defense that only allowed 26 goals in 18 games. Gorskie started every game his senior year and represented his team as captain.
The 28-year old stayed close to home to start his professional career, joining the Central Jersey Spartans of the USL Premier Development League in 2011. Over the last nine years, Gorskie has spent time playing in three different countries (USA, Mexico, Denmark) and has made appearances in the USL and NASL in the US. In his one season in the USL Championship with the Tampa Bay Rowdies in 2017, Gorskie played in 34 games, booted 90 clearances, and scored 2 goals.
After 2018 season overseas with Thisted FC of the Danish 2nd Division, Gorskie joins Loudoun United with over 10,000 professional minutes under his belt.
Garduño started his professional career in 2009, playing for the Club de Futbol Universidad Nacional A.C. Pumas, a U-20 team in Mexico City. After eight years of playing for several teams in Mexico, including Venados FC and Dorados De Sinaloa, Garduño came to America to play for the Las Vegas Lights FC in 2018. In one season in the USL Championship, he proved to be a valuable defender as he ended the season with 123 clearances, 15 blocks, and 39 interceptions.
