Great Lakes Loons News Release
PEORIA, IL -- The Great Lakes Loons, in conjunction with the Los Angeles Dodgers, have announced that right-handed pitcher Kyle Smit has joined the Loons. He is scheduled to start Friday in the Loons' series finale against the Peoria Chiefs.
Smit, a fifth round selection of the Dodgers in 2006, went 4-0 with a 2.82 ERA and held opponents to a .217 average against this summer in the Gulf Coast League. He spent last season with the GCL Dodgers, compiling an 0-2 record and a 4.09 ERA in 11 innings.
This brings the Loons' roster to 24 players following yesterday's announcements of LHP Clayton Kershaw's promotion to Double-A Jacksonville and UTIL Parker Brooks' retirement.
