1926 - Babe Ruth hit a short home run . . . just short of the next county, that is. Ruth hit the longest home run ever hit in Detroit's Navin Field. Although it was listed as 602 feet, the ball landed outside the park, two blocks away - - a distance of about 800 feet from home plate. The Yankees won the game, 11-9.
