Lookouts Almost Squeeze One Out

Chattanooga Lookouts News Release
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Huntsville took a front-loaded approach to scoring and staved off several comeback attempts by the Lookouts in a 6-5 win in Monday night action at AT&T Field.
Chattanooga starting pitcher James Avery (5-6) did not have his best stuff going at the start of the game, as evident by the fact that the first five Huntsville batters reached base before Avery was able to record his first out of the evening. The Stars crossed five men at the plate in the five-hit inning, highlighted by a two-RBI double by Adam Heether.
The momentum continued in the second inning for the Stars, as they augmented their lead, 6-0, on a single off of the bat of Steven Sollmann, which plated Hernan Iribarren.
Fortunately for the Lookouts, the Stars would fail to manufacture any additional runs during the duration of the game; however, this small victory would prove to be irrelevant in the greater scheme and outcome of the game.
Chattanooga's bats finally showed some life with a big fourth inning.
Tyrell Godwin began the inning with long ball to right, putting the Lookouts on the scoreboard. After two consecutive walks, Cody Strait blasted his seventh home run of the season. Still without an out in the inning, Luis Bolivar showed off his second gear by legging-out a triple. He eventually would find his way home on a Tonys Gutierrez sacrifice fly to left field.
With the score at 6-5, the Lookouts came close to tying-up the score in the sixth, when Ryan Hanigan hit a lead-off double. Strait followed with a fly out to right field, advancing Hanigan to third. The Lookouts then implemented a risky method of tying-up the score with Luis Bolivar at the plate. Bolivar, usually very adept in the area of bat control, attempted to execute a suicide squeeze, but came-up empty. Ryan Hanigan then was tagged out to effectively thwart the Lookouts' comeback chances.
Mark DiFelice (3-1), who entered the game after the Hanigan double in the sixth, befuddled the Lookouts' bats for the remainder of the game to earn the win for the Stars.
The Lookouts will continue their current home stand, tomorrow, with a 7:15 game start against Huntsville.
Tickets for this game or any other Lookouts home game can be purchased at the Lookouts Box Office at AT&T Field, online at www.lookouts.com, or by calling (423) 267-4849.
