Stars Raise Money for Fight Against Cancer

June 4, 2007 - Southern League (SL1)
Huntsville Stars News Release

The Huntsville Stars, along with Regal Nissan and Mercedez Benz of Huntsville raised $4,415 for the American Cancer Society Friday night. The Stars wore specially designed pink jerseys that were auctioned off during the Stars 4-2 win over the Montgomery Biscuits.

The auction, which was a silent auction until the 7th inning, was very successful and fans had the option of taking the jersey as they left the park Friday night, or having it washed and picking it up at a later date. Also, for an additional $10, fans could get their jersey autographed by the player who wore the jersey. The highest selling jersey was Lou Palmisano's jersey, which sold for $550.

Prior to the start of Friday's contest, 12 breast cancer survivors were honored for their bravery and heroic fight against the disease, and Lindsey Jones, a 12-year-old cancer survivor sang the national anthem.

The Stars, Regal Nissan, Mercedez Benz of Huntsville, and The American Cancer Society would like to thank all 5,068 fans who were in attendance Friday night and a special thank you to all fans that placed bids and helped in the fight against cancer. It was a successful night on and off the field and we are so grateful to all who contributed.

The Stars return home Wednesday, June 13th to open up a five game series with the Birmingham Barons. Tickets are available by calling the Stars and 256-882-2562, or by ordering online at www.huntsvillestars.com.
