Long Lifts Goldeyes Past T-Bones

June 10, 2010 - Northern League (NL)
Winnipeg Goldeyes News Release

The Goldeyes (12-9) got a clutch hit from shortstop Wes Long in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat the Kansas City T-Bones (13-7) 2-1 Thursday afternoon at Canwest Park from 6,134 screaming fans.

With Vince Harrison on third base and Josh Asanovich on second in the seventh inning, Long drove a single into left field to score both runners and give Winnipeg a 2-1 lead. It's all the offence Winnipeg would need.

The only blemish on Goldeyes starter Mark Holliman was a solo home run he gave up to Ray Sadler in the top of the fourth inning.

Ian Thomas pitched an inning and a third of relief to get to win for the second-straight night and improve his record this season to 4-0. Philip Roy finished off the eighth inning and pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his fourth save of the season in as many tries.

Cody McAllister takes the loss for the T-Bones.

Winnipeg has now won two in a row as it sets out on a nine-game road trip, beginning tomorrow night. The Goldeyes will visit the Schaumburg Flyers, Lake County Fielders and Joliet JackHammers during the trip for three games each.
