LONG ISLAND - The Long Island Nets, the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, have acquired guard Trey McGowens from the available player pool.
Long Island was granted a roster hardship exception by the NBA G League to allow for McGowens' additional roster spot while forward RaiQuan Gray (right hand ligament injury) and guard Brandon Rachal (right adductor strain) miss time due to injury. McGowens (6'4", 191) was drafted with the 64th overall pick in the third round of the 2022 NBA G League Draft by the Birmingham Squadron on Oct. 22 and waived on Nov. 1. Prior to his professional career, he played two collegiate seasons (2020-22) at Nebraska, appearing in 44 games (43 starts) and averaging 9.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 27.7 minutes per game. The Columbia, S.C. native, played his first two seasons (2018-20) at Pittsburgh, appearing in 66 games (64 starts) and averaging 11.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 30.8 minutes per contest before transferring to Nebraska.
