Long Distance Bombs Propel the Nuts to a 13-3 Win

Modesto, CA - Noelvi Marte and Robert Perez Jr. hit a pair of tap measure home runs in the Modesto Nuts 13-3 win over the Fresno Grizzlies on Friday night at John Thurman Field.

Robert Perez Jr smashed hist first home run of the year and the 20th of his career when he got ahold of the first pitch in the fifth inning. Perez recorded three hits and two RBIs in the win for the Nuts (21-13). Noelvi Marte added a three-run bomb in the seventh inning. The Nuts shortstop scored four times in the game and added an RBI triple.

Taylor Dollard (W, 3-2) worked out of a pair of bases loaded jams in the first two innings as he fought through five innings. Dollard gave up eight hits but just two earned runs while walking one and striking out seven. Dollard retired eight in a row from the second through the fourth inning.

Sam Weatherly (L, 1-3) lasted just 1.2 innings while giving up six runs on six hits with three walks and three strikeouts.

Trent Tingelstad added three RBIs. Alberto Rodriguez reached base four times and drove in two runs. Cesar Izturis collected three hits in the win.

The Nuts go after their second straight win with game five of the six-game series between the Nuts and Grizzlies is on tap for Saturday night at John Thurman Field. First pitch is at 6:05 pm.
