Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Rancho Cucamonga, CA - Chris Newell and Thayron Liranzo rescued the Quakes from a second straight defeat to Stockton, as the pair slugged back-to-back home runs in the last of the eighth, as the Quakes rallied for a 4-3 win over the Ports on Thursday night at LoanMart Field.

Trailing 3-2, Newell smashed a 444-foot drive to right-center for his team-leading seventh homer of the year.

Not to be outdone, Liranzo took one to the opposite field, tying Newell for the team lead in long-balls with seven, giving Rancho the lead for good at 4-3.

Madison Jeffrey worked a 1-2-3 ninth for his fourth save.

Lucas Wepf (1-2) struck out all five batters he faced to notch his first win. The Quakes posted a season-high with 18 strikeouts on the night.

Rancho (21-9) will look to make it two straight over Stockton on Friday, sending Payton Martin (1-0) to the mound against Yehizon Sanchez (0-4) at 6:30pm.

Friday will be another Family RV Family Feast Night, with $2 hot dogs, $1 Pepsi products and $1 ice cream sandwiches. Tickets are available at rcquakes.com. Go Quakes!
