Adirondack Thunder News Release
Glens Falls, NY - The Adirondack Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames, announced today that forwards Ty Loney and Brian Ward have been released from their tryout agreements with the Albany Devils of the AHL and will join the Thunder's training camp roster.
Loney, 24, joins the Thunder for his second professional season after he spent the 2015-16 season in the Penguins organization, split between Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the AHL and Wheeling in the ECHL. With the Penguins, Loney collected six points (0-6-6) in 31 games played. The Valencia, PA native also skated in 28 regular season games with the Nailers, where he amassed 18 points (7-11-18). Loney also skated in each of Wheeling's 26 playoff contests and collected 18 points (7-11-18) on route to an appearance in the 2016 Kelly Cup Finals. Loney's seven postseason tallies tied for third on the Wheeling roster and included goals in series clinching wins over Florida and South Carolina.
Ward, 24, was originally the first new signing for the Thunder in July, as he joins the team after a three-season career at St. Lawrence University, as well as one game in the American Hockey League with the Charlotte Checkers last season. Ward collected 70 points (27-43-70) over 112 games in his three seasons as a Saint and he led his team in scoring with 26 points (9-17-26) during the 2014-15 season and captained the team as a senior in 2015-16. The 6-1 forward made his professional debut on March 26, 2016 with the Checkers, as he collected a shot on goal and two penalty minutes in a 6-2 win over the Manitoba Moose.
The Thunder kick off their 2016-17 home schedule in less than two weeks on Saturday, October 22, at 7:00 p.m. against the Manchester Monarchs. Ticket packages are available now for the 2016-17 season at just $13 per seat, a savings of 34% off of 2015-16 pricing. Call 518-480-3355 x1 to reserve your seats today.
