Winston-Salem, NC - Seth Loman notched a season-high four hits and drove in three to lead Winston-Salem to a 4-2 victory over Frederick on Friday night at Wake Forest Baseball Park. Loman, who assumed first base responsibilities with the recent promotion of Jimmy Gallagher, helped the Dash snap a three-game losing streak and stretched their first-place lead over Myrtle Beach to two games in the Southern Division.

It took awhile for Winston-Salem's bats to come alive as Frederick jumped in front with a pair of runs in the top of the third inning. Billy Rowell reached on an infield single and Matt Angle followed with a two-run shot of Anthony Carter. It was the 14th home run surrendered by Carter, which ties him with Lynchburg's Justin Wilson for most allowed in the league.

Despite allowing the home run, Carter was solid in his six innings of work. He limited the Keys to two runs on six hits, but did not figure in the decision. Carter, who paces the league with 10 wins did not walk a batter and struck out four.

The Keys remained in front 2-0 until Winston-Salem's offense finally came to life in the bottom of the sixth inning. Center fielder Justin Greene singled with one out and second baseman Dale Mollenhauer followed with a walk. After a wild pitch advanced both runners into scoring position, Loman dropped a two-run single into short right field that knotted the score at two.

After holding the Dash scoreless for five innings, Keys starting pitcher Rick Zagone was lifted from the game following Loman's game-tying hit. Zagone worked 5.2 innings and surrendered two runs on six hits, but left with the game tied.

Winston-Salem grabbed the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning against Keys reliever Pat Egan. Shortstop Greg Paiml reached on an infield single with one out and stole second. After a ground out moved Paiml to third, left fielder Tyler Kuhn notched a clutch two-out RBI single to put the Dash ahead 3-2. Loman capped off his stellar night with an RBI double that scored Brent Morel in the eighth inning to give Winston-Salem a two-run advantage.

The Dash bullpen made the lead stand as Hector Santiago (3-4) tossed two scoreless frames to collect the win. Tyson Corley retired the side in order in the ninth to garner his second Carolina League save. Egan (1-2) allowed two runs in 2.1 innings to suffer the loss for the Keys.

Winston-Salem and Frederick continue their four-game series with game three on Saturday night at Wake Forest Baseball Park. The Dash will send LHP Justin Edwards (3-2, 4.83) to the mound, while the Keys are expected to start LHP Nate Nery (3-5, 4.77). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

The current home stand for the Dash runs through Sunday, August 9 at Wake Forest Baseball Park. Promotions include Thirsty Thursday and Fireworks following Friday night's game. Fans can also take advantage of Domino's Family Fun Weekends on Saturday and Sunday.
