Clutch Hitting Betters Frederick in 4-2 Loss

Frederick saw two-out singles in back-to-back innings foil its effort for a fourth consecutive win as the Keys lost an early two-run lead en route to a 4-2 defeat in Winston-Salem Friday night.

The Keys took a 2-0 lead in the third inning from an unlikely source. CF Matt Angle homered over the right-field wall giving the Keys the early advantage.

It took until the sixth inning for the Dash to rally.

1B Seth Loman ended starter Rick Zagone's night with a two-run game tying single. Zagone allowed two runs in 5 2/3rd innings in the solid effort.

The Dash would take the lead in a similar fashion in the seventh inning.

With a runner at third base and two outs LF Tyler Kuhn fouled off two strike pitches in succession. He finally found one he liked singling home the would be winning run.

Loman added an RBI-double in the eighth inning. He went 4-for-4 with three RBI's on the night.

The Keys got another multi-hit effort from RF Billy Rowell who registered at least two hits for a fourth consecutive game. DH Wally Crancer went 2-for-3 for his seventh multi-hit game in his last 12 games.

The series continues Saturday, August 8th at 7:00 p.m. with Nate Nery getting the start. Frederick currently trails Wilmington by five games in the North.

Frederick returns home next Friday, August 14th to face the Winston-Salem Dash on NFL Night with the Baltimore Raven Cheerleaders in attendance at the game. Fireworks will follow the 7:00 p.m. start.
