Arkansas Travelers News Release

Arkansas Travelers pitcher Logan Gilbert has been named Texas League Pitcher of the Week for August 12-18 as announced by League President Tim Purpura. Gilbert pitched twice over the past week, picking up a pair of victories and striking out 16 over 11 shutout innings. On the 13th, he blanked NW Arkansas for six innings, scattering four hits and one walk while striking out eight. Five days later, the 22-year old dominated Springfield for five innings, giving up just two hits and three walks while striking out eight more. The starts were just the sixth and seventh appearances of Gilbert's Double-A career. He joins pitchers Nabil Crismatt, Darren McCaughan, Andrew Moore and outfielders Jake Fraley and Kyle Lewis as TL weekly award winners from the Travs in 2019.

Gilbert was drafted just last season by the Mariners in the first round, 14th overall out of Stetson University. With Arkansas this season he has a 4-2 record and a 2.50 ERA in 7 starts. Total between three affiliates (West Virginia, Modesto, Arkansas) in the Mariners system, his ERA is 1.95 with a 10-5 record in 24 starts. In 124.2 innings Gilbert has notched 154 strikeouts while walking just 30. He also earned a California League Pitcher of the Week Award in May.

Gilbert and the Travs are off Monday before they open the final home stand of the regular season on Tuesday night with a 7:10 first pitch against the Corpus Christi Hooks. The Travs were the first half TL North Division champions and will host the first two games of the Texas League Playoffs at Dickey-Stephens Park on September 4th and 5th.
