Lively dominates for third win

The Fightin Phils (17-15) ended their three-game losing streak on Thursday night as Ben Lively (3-0) tossed seven shutout innings in a 2-0 win over the Erie SeaWolves (12-21). It was Reading's fourth shutout win of the season.

Brock Stassi gave Reading a 1-0 lead off SeaWolves starter Derek Hankins in the bottom of the third inning as he hit a sacrifice fly to score Roman Quinn. Cameron Perkins extended the lead to 2-0 int he bottom of the fourth inning as he hit a solo home run off Hankins.

Ben Lively pitched seven shutout innings as he walked just one batter while giving up three hits with five strikeouts. Nick Hill recorded two outs in the top of the eighth inning before walking the next two batters. He was pulled for Stephen Shackleford who got Wynton Bernard to groundout to second base to end the inning.

Roman Quinn recorded two hits and stole his sixteenth base of the season. Brock Stassi recorded two hits, one being a double.

The Fightin Phils will play again on Friday evening at FirstEnergy Stadium. First pitch is at 7:05 pm. Fans can listen to the game on CBS Sports Radio 1240 AM/98-5 FM and fightins.com beginning at 6:05 pm. Fans can also view the game on MiLB.tv beginning at 7:05 pm.
