Lions sign Shadwick Criss

VANCOUVER B.C., April 2, 2003 - - BC Lions General Manager and Head Coach Wally Buono today announced the signing of defensive back Shadwick Criss. In keeping with team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

"We think Shad with his experience and aggressive style of play will come in and compete for a starting position," said Wally Buono. "He will also be a good addition to our strong defence."

Shad joins the Lions after spending time in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys, the Minnesota Vikings, the Jacksonville Jaguars and the San Diego Chargers.

Before entering the NFL, Shad, 27, played the 1999 season for the Calgary Stampeders where he had 65 total tackles, 2 interceptions, one sack and one fumble recovery in 18 games for the team. He appeared in the Grey Cup game against the Hamilton Tiger-cats and made three tackles.

The 5'11", 184 lbs. defensive back attended Missouri before joining the Stampeders as a free agent. Criss was born in Denison, Texas.
